EN: This blend of colors and materials gave me the freedom to create the portrait of actress Luminița Gheorghiu as I felt it. What, in the end, is the true trait of an actor? Beyond all the faces of the characters she has worn, no one can truly know what the face looks like of a person who has lived so many lives on stage and on screen. The face at the center of this painting is the one I saw, as a spectator. Not you, not the person beside you – each of us sees with our own eyes, each gaze carries its own image. The awards and nominations of Ms. Gheorghiu are reflected in the work like a symbolic golden dust, scattered across the canvas. And those who watched her throughout her career are present as well – in the highlighted, curious eyes. The eyes of those who admired her, who judged her, who were moved by her, or who simply loved her. “At first, I was afraid, as I usually am.” – this phrase of hers struck me, captivated me, and inspired me. It was the beginning of my journey toward this portrait.

Dincolo de toate chipurile personajelor pe care le-a purtat, nimeni nu poate ști cu adevărat cum arată fața omului ce a trăit atâtea vieți pe scenă și pe ecran. Chipul din centrul acestei picturi este cel pe care l-am văzut eu, ca spectator. Nu tu, nu cel de lângă tine – fiecare privim cu ochii noștri, fiecare ducem în privire o imagine diferită.
